The University of the Virgin Islands’ University Bound Program (formerly Upward Bound) is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with Alpine Securities USVI to provide free SAT Preparation Courses for high school students in the St. Thomas–St. John District.
Through this initiative, University Bound aims to ensure that Virgin Islands students are equipped with the skills, strategies, and confidence needed to succeed on the SAT and prepare for their college journey.
The senior session will begin on Saturday, Oct. 11, with classes every other Saturday (excluding holidays) through Nov. 29. The junior session will run from Dec. 6, through Feb. 28, 2026, also on alternating Saturdays. Each session features dynamic instruction in both Math and Language Arts.
For many participants, this program provides the first opportunity to take a full-length mock SAT exam, helping to build familiarity, reduce test anxiety, and improve scores. The impact has been clear—previous students have seen average score increases of nearly 90 points after completing the course.
In addition, students who actively participate will be eligible to win incentive prizes such as gift cards and the popular Texas Instruments TI-84 graphing calculator, which is invaluable for both test preparation and future college coursework.
“Alpine Securities has been an unwavering champion of our students,” said Rosalia Rhymer-Rohan, director of the University Bound Program. “Thanks to their generosity, we are able to once again offer this transformative SAT Prep course. From strategies to reduce test anxiety to hands-on practice exams, this program equips students to perform at their very best. For college-bound juniors and seniors, this is an opportunity you cannot afford to miss—it’s truly an investment in your future success.”
Vernon Araujo, Alpine’s Director of Philanthropy and Community Relations, added: “Investing in youth programs is at the heart of Alpine’s mission. We are proud to partner with the University of the Virgin Islands and University Bound to ensure that our students have the tools, guidance, and confidence to unlock their full potential.”
