After a season full of exciting changes, St. Croix Montessori invites families, friends and curious community members to step inside and see what’s new.
On Friday, May 30, the school will host a celebratory open house and special guest author event, welcoming the public to tour the campus and meet members of our staff to hear all about the Montessori and International Baccalaureate experience.
“This spring has been full of momentum,” said Tracy Cole, head of school. “From new spaces to new programs, we’re growing with purpose, and we’re thrilled to welcome the community to be part of it.”
Recent upgrades include a brand-new school library funded by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands and the National Endowment for the Humanities, the renovation of three learning spaces, and the addition of a two-acre athletic field now home to soccer, flag football, cross country, track and field, archery, lacrosse, golf and gymnastics. These new features complement the school’s original basketball court — a mainstay of the campus and the very court once played on by NBA legend and St. Croix native, Tim Duncan.
The May 30 event will feature local authors whose published works are now part of the school’s new library collection, offering students and guests a chance to engage with their stories firsthand.
St. Croix Montessori offers a hands-on, child-centered approach to education where independence, curiosity, and respect are at the core. In the early grades, students build a strong foundation through the Montessori method, emphasizing exploration, self-direction, and meaningful work. In middle grades, students engage in the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework — a globally respected academic program. IB emphasizes critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and global awareness, offering a dynamic option for families seeking a thoughtful, well-rounded approach.
“We know middle schoolers are ready for more: more voice, more challenge and more connection,” said Cole. “That’s exactly what our program provides.”
The school is currently enrolling for the 2025 school year and has available seats in grades 6, 7 and 8. With its first graduating class on the horizon in 2030, St. Croix Montessori continues to build a future-focused middle school rooted in care, curiosity and global learning. The school is committed to ensuring its programs are accessible to all families. Financial aid is available, and interested families are encouraged to inquire regardless of income.
The open house and author event take place Friday, May 30. All are welcome.
