The Smith Family regrets to announce the passing of Mariel Elodia Smith of Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, who transitioned peacefully on Monday, June 30, in North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Richard and Rosita Hodge, her brother Cromwell Hodge, and her sister Moel Dawson.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Lloyd Smith; her sons Allen Smith, Jermyn Smith, and Jerry Smith; her daughters-in-law Diane Smith, Akima Smith, and Sharifa Smith; and her cherished sisters Muriel Callwood, Mabel Dublin, Merle Carey, Marilyn Moore, Mona Jones, Millicent Stevens, and Melberita Hodge.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins—too many to name—who will all cherish her memory.
Two funeral services will be held in her honor:
-The first service will take place on Thursday, August 7th at Wesley Methodist Church, St. Thomas. Viewing will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by the service at 10:30 a.m.
-The second service will take place on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at Zion Hill Methodist Church, Tortola BVI. Viewing will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with the funeral service beginning at 10:30 AM.
She will be laid to rest at the Cane Garden Bay Cemetery, followed by a repast at the Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
