Man Stabbed Multiple Times; St. Thomas Woman Arrested for Domestic Violence

Virgin Islands News

A woman accused of stabbing a man multiple times during a domestic incident in April was arrested last weekend, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Police say Genise Thomas, 30, was taken into custody Sunday at the Domestic Violence Unit. Thomas was advised of her rights and given the opportunity to provide a statement, which she declined. She was then arrested, booked, processed, and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending her Advice of Rights hearing. She faces charges of third-degree assault (domestic violence), simple assault (domestic violence), and disturbance of the peace.

The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on April 24, when an adult male arrived at Roy Lester Schneider Hospital with multiple stab wounds. The man told officers he had just returned home from work when he was confronted outside by Thomas. He said he tried to avoid her to prevent an altercation, but she allegedly pulled a knife from her waistband and stabbed him repeatedly, according to the police report.

The victim ran toward a nearby roadway seeking help, but Thomas reportedly followed, throwing rocks and pieces of scrap wood at him. A friend of the victim eventually picked him up and transported him to the hospital for treatment, the police report stated.

The case remains under investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911, the Domestic Violence Unit at 340-715-5535, or the Office of the Police Chief.
