Man, 18, Arrested on Charges From Two Violent Crimes Committed as a Minor

Virgin Islands News

An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged as an adult in connection with two violent incidents committed when he was a minor, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Shango Iranie Allick Jr. was taken into custody on June 25 and charged in connection with an August 2024 armed robbery and a January 2025 shooting in Frederiksted, according to the police report.

The first incident occurred on Aug. 3, 2024, at approximately 11:29 p.m., when two individuals were robbed at gunpoint near the Frederiksted Credit Union. The second case stemmed from a Jan. 26 report of multiple gunshots fired in the Frederiksted town area. Detectives determined the shots were fired at a residence, according to police, the police report stated.

The investigation identified Allick as a suspect in both cases. At the time of the offenses, he was a minor. Arrest warrants were issued through the Family Court Division, and he was located off-island and returned to the territory, the report stated.

On June 13, the Family Court Division held a transfer hearing in which Allick was bound over to face adult charges, it said.

Allick faces the following charges:

  • From the Aug. 3, 2024 incident: unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, first-degree robbery, and second-degree robbery.

  • From the Jan. 26 incident: attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of ammunition, first-degree reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Bail was set at $100,000. Allick was unable to post bail and was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
