Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Rasmussen; parents, William and Cornelia Bensley; brothers-in-law, Niels, Georg, and Peter; and sisters-in-law, Jyette Rasmussen and Jenny Fraebel.

She is survived by her son, Erik, and daughter-in-law, Becky; grandchildren, Christian (Aaliyah) and Brandon (Leiya); sister, Cornelia Hume; brothers, Russell and William (Bud) Bensley; sisters-in-law, Claudia and Heidi Bensley, Karen Gunzinger, Laura Jolly, Rachel Rasmussen; brothers-in-law, Jack Hume, Walter Jolly, Richard Fraebel; nieces and nephews, Loni, Tiia, Michael, James Fraebel, Stefan and Christine Gunzinger, Kirsten Keeton, Kurt and Kent Jolly, Lisa and Niels Rasmussen, Brigitte and Kaelin Rasmussen, Jon and Matt Bensley, Bryce and Lucas Bensley; and other family members, Robert and Raquel Ruach, along with many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Julie grew up on a dairy farm in Springville, NY, and attended Brockport State University, where she met her husband, Peter. They married in 1965 and lived in Rochester, NY, before relocating with their son, Erik, to St. Thomas in 1971. Julie began working for Antilles Airboats in St. Thomas, and later, the family moved to St. Croix, where she continued working for Antilles, which eventually became VI Seaplane Shuttle. After leaving the airline, Julie began a long and successful real estate career on St. Croix, ultimately retiring from Coldwell Banker St. Croix Realty.

Julie loved St. Croix and cherished her family deeply. She was always present, cheering on her grandsons—whether on the baseball field or basketball court. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching tennis.

Julie will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was gentle, kind, and had a heart of gold. To know her was to love her.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
