Felix R. Velasquez aka “Poottin,” age 80, passed away late August at Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami, Florida.
His final wishes for cremation and spreading of ashes at sea will be honored by the family. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating his life in Frederiksted on Friday, Oct. 31 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church beginning with tributes at 10 a.m. and a service at 10:30 a.m.
He transitioned peacefully surrounded by his immediate family Aug. 27 and is reunited with his beloved wife Bernice Rodgers Velasquez, his sons Edwin and Felix, Jr.(Phil), dear mother Teodosia Cruz, father Tomas Velasquez Morales, and beloved brother Tomasito.
Left behind to mourn are his children Steve, Elise(Sisty), Tomas (Tommy) and Lisa. Grandchildren: Natalia (Sarah), Misty, Jerry, Jr., Jaylen, Destiny, Trinity, Melody and Ava. Sisters: Magda Fabio and Ada Golden. Nieces: Eileen Lopez, Vicky Penders, Starr Garcia and Patricia Sigler. Nephews: Garlos G.Lopez , R. Edward (Raffie) Encarnacion and Femi Faoye. In-laws: RODGERS- Ramona, Dawn, Darril, Errol(Skeebo), and Lynette; Anna Chase(NY): ROBERTS – Joseph (Joe Kiah), Rosendo(Sendo), Iola, Madora(Meedie), Pauline, and Keturah(Kitty). Lorna and Randall Spencer, Kenneth(Jeefth) and Wayne Allick. Families: Cruz, Ramirez, Francis, Simpson (NY) , Springer, Smith, Hendrickson, Maldanado (NY/FL). Special Friends: Jason Fangman, Michelle Quinones (NY), Pat Henry (NY), Margaret Richards Brown, Kenny (“Busadol”) Garcia, JoeKool (NY) and many more too numerous to mention.
