- Introduction
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to design, fabricate, deliver, and install two (2) prefabricated gazebos at John Brewers Beach on the Orville E. Kean Campus in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. This project is a part of the Brewers Beach Enhancement initiative and includes the construction of concrete pads and hurricane-resistant outdoor structures.
Bidders may submit proposals for the entire scope of work or for specific portions of the project (e.g., design only, gazebo fabrication only, slab construction only, or installation services only). UVI reserves the right to award the contract in whole or in part based on the best value and capabilities of respondents.
- Project Description
The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to complete the following:
- Design, fabricate, and deliver two (2) 20′ x 28′ treated pine oval gazebos
- Include metal roofing (color to be confirmed)
- Include hidden wiring packages
- Provide all associated components including:
- 5″x5″ laminated posts
- Top railings and 1″x3″ standard railings
- Standard braces and standard roof package
- Integrate hurricane-resistant enhancements
- Supply engineered drawings with stamp (Florida stamp acceptable; permit to be obtained by Company)
- Construct two concrete slabs (approx. 48 yards of concrete per slab including columns and grade beams)
- Deliverables
- Finalized and stamped engineered drawings
- Complete prefabricated gazebo kits delivered to site
- Site preparation and construction of concrete slabs
- Full on-site installation of both gazebo structures
- All associated materials, hardware, and fasteners
- Estimated project timeline: 6–8 weeks after order confirmation

- Company profile and experience with similar work
- Detailed work plan and project timeline
- Itemized budget (materials, labor, shipping, installation)
- Warranty terms
- Proof of general liability insurance and bonding
- Documentation of ability to meet local codes and historic/environmental requirements
