Week six of the USVI Soccer Federation Women’s Premier League delivered a dominant performance amid surprising absences.
On St. Croix, league leaders Lady Rovers remained undefeated without even lacing up their cleats. Sunday’s highly anticipated clash against the STX Kestrels was ruled a forfeit, giving Lady Rovers three points and three goals by default to keep them securely at the top of the standings with a flawless record.
Though the forfeit was a disappointment to fans hoping to witness the two competitive sides face off, it reinforces Lady Rovers’ early dominance in the STX Division. The Kestrels, who had hoped to bounce back and gain momentum, will now turn their attention to regrouping for their next match against Champion Athletic Performance Academy.
The second match of the St. Croix doubleheader wasn’t short on action, as CAPA FC delivered the most lopsided victory of the weekend in a 7-0 rout over 340 FC.
Team captain Jayda Browne wasted no time asserting control, scoring in the opening minute with additional goals in the 44th and 47th minutes. Her pace, positioning, and leadership anchored CAPA’s relentless attack.
Alile Browne contributed a clean strike in the 13th minute, while Kirsten Jones added two more — first converting a penalty kick in the 21st minute, then scoring again in the 30th. The seventh and final goal came off an own goal by 340’s Tesania Stevens midway through the second half.
With the win, CAPA sends a clear message to the rest of the division: they’re here to contend.
Over on St. Thomas, Castaways FC earned their second win of the season — but not in the way they imagined.
Their opponents, Rock City United, who handed them a 6-1 loss last weekend, were absent from this round of competition. The resulting forfeit gave Castaways three points and three goals by default.
While the team would have preferred to earn a victory on the pitch, the result marks a welcome shift for a squad hungry to compete.
Despite occasional forfeits, the USVISF Women’s Premier League continues to grow in both intensity and impact, gaining structure, visibility, and community support to offer local women a long-overdue platform to compete at a high level within the Virgin Islands.
