ACTION

Notice of the United States Virgin Islands Department of Justice’s intent to amend the Rules and Regulations promulgated in Title 16 V.I.C. Chapter 13, § 354, for the Department of Justice, Paternity and Child Support Division, under authority granted in Title 3 V.I.C. Chapter 8, § 119
 II. DATE OF NOTICE: December 5, 2025

 III. SUMMARY:
The Department is proposing legislative amendments aimed at updating the rules and regulations for the Paternity and Child Support Division to be in compliance with Federal law and to increase efficiency of child support hearings.
IV. HOW TO OBTAIN A COPY OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT
The proposed amendments are available for public inspection by appointment at the Department of Justice, Paternity and Child Support Division offices on St. Thomas and St. Croix, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays. Arrangements to examine the proposed Amendments may be made at the addresses and phone numbers below.

The proposed Amendments will also be available at the Department of Justice offices on St. Thomas and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Contact Chief Deputy Ian S. A. Clement, Esquire, for appointment/arrangements.
 V.REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENT
The Department of Justice is allowing a 30-day period for soliciting public comment on its intent to amend these rules and regulations.
Interested parties are invited to submit comments in writing. Comments must be submitted to the Department of Justice, Paternity and Child Support Division at the above-mentioned address or by email to childsupport@vi.gov on or before  January 3, 2026.
IV.PUBLIC HEARINGS [N/A]
No public hearing will be held

V. RESPONSE TO COMMENTS
Following the close of the 30-day comment period, a response to comments will be developed as soon as possible. All comments received during the public notice period will be considered. This response to comments will be available to the public in the same manner as today’s notice.
