The V.I. Water and Power Authority has announced that a temporary rotational outage schedule will take effect on St. Croix beginning Tuesday, September 30, at approximately 4:00 p.m. The action is tied to repairs on Unit 17 at the Richmond power plant.

According to WAPA, the rotation is designed to reduce demand while the work is being carried out. The schedule will be activated only if necessary, depending on load requirements. Restoration may take up to 15 minutes longer than the scheduled window, and the utility warned that adjustments could be made as conditions change.

WAPA officials stressed that plant personnel will do everything possible to keep as many customers online as demand allows.
Chanelle Peterson, WAPA’s Director of Corporate Communications, issued the notice on Tuesday afternoon, apologizing to customers for the inconvenience and thanking them for their patience. She emphasized that the repairs are necessary to maintain reliable service.
