VIPD Investigates Robbery Spree on St. John and Group Assault in Oswald Harris Court

The V.I. Police Department is actively investigating two serious incidents that occurred in the territory over the weekend—a pair of armed carjackings on St. John and a group assault that left one man injured at Oswald Harris Court on St. Thomas.

Two Armed Robberies Reported Hours Apart on St. John

On Monday, June 2 at approximately 10:48 a.m., the VIPD was notified of a robbery near Annaberg Plantation on St. John. According to statements provided by the victims, they were preparing to leave the area in their vehicle when they were approached by two masked and armed men who arrived in a dark-colored Acura sedan. The suspects reportedly demanded the vehicle and fled the scene without further incident.

A few hours later, another armed carjacking was reported in the Haulover area, where a male and female victim were similarly confronted by two masked suspects in a dark Acura sedan, again at gunpoint. In both instances, the suspects targeted the victims’ vehicles.

Police confirmed that both stolen vehicles have since been recovered and returned to their rightful owners. No injuries were reported during either incident. As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made, and the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) continues to pursue leads in both cases.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the VIPD at 340-774-2211, dial 911, or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Group Assault Leaves Man Injured at Oswald Harris Court

Meanwhile, on Sunday, June 1, the 911 Emergency Call Center alerted the VIPD to a reported assault that occurred at Oswald Harris Court, a public housing community on St. Thomas.

Upon arrival, officers with the Criminal Investigation Bureau were briefed by responding patrol officers, who reported that an adult male victim had been struck in the head with a metal pipe. The assault was allegedly carried out by a group of young males, according to the preliminary investigation.

The victim sustained a laceration to the head and was unable to provide a complete account of the attack. Authorities are now asking the public for assistance in identifying those involved.

This case, too, remains under active investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The VIPD urges witnesses or anyone with information to contact the CIB directly or use the Crime Stoppers V.I. tip line.
