The Virgin Islands Housing Authority has received a perfect score in the management of its Housing Choice Voucher Program.

A VIHA announcement earlier this week reports that the agency recently received 140 out of 140 possible points in the Section Eight Management Assessment Program. The perfect score is the Authority’s highest since 2016.
“Achieving such an outstanding performance is a testament to the meticulous effort and collaborative spirit exhibited by every team member,” said VIHA Executive Director Dwayne Alexander. “It is pivotal to acknowledge the crucial role that documentation and reporting have played in this success,” he added.
VIHA vows to continue fostering a culture of continuous improvement, an approach it believes will “lead to enhanced efficiency and greater client satisfaction.”

The HCVP, more popularly known as Section 8, helps eligible persons – low-income families, the elderly, veterans and disabled people – afford housing by subsidizing rental payments. Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, these rental payments are made directly to landlords on the tenants’ behalf.
