The U.S. Virgin Islands Access & Visitation Program, operating under the Department of Justice’s Paternity & Child Support Division, has partnered with the Department of Sports, Parks, and Recreation to present a territory-wide initiative aimed at helping families prepare for the new school year.

The series, titled “Back to School Fun Day & School Supply Giveaway,” will unfold across the islands in July and August, offering both support and celebration in anticipation of the return to school.
The initiative centers on providing school supplies to fathers, aligning with the spirit of National DADS Take Your Child to School Day. Fathers who are registered AVP Program participants must sign up in advance to receive school supplies, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. After July 14, the school supply distribution will be open to all fathers.
Organizers promise a full day of family-friendly fun, with activities including bounce houses, face painting, games, live music, and appearances by local sports heroes. Food and drinks will also be available, helping to create an engaging and supportive environment for children and their families.
The first event will take place on July 19 at the Emile Griffith Ballpark on St. Thomas, running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On July 26, festivities continue at the National Park Ballfield on St. John, also from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The series concludes on August 9 with an expanded event at the Isaac Boynes Ballpark on St. Croix, scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Fathers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to not only prepare their children for school but to participate in a community celebration that honors their role in their children’s educational journey.
