The V.I. Department of Education (VIDE) has announced the closure of three schools on St. Croix following a series of violent threats that specifically targeted students and staff. St. Croix Central High School, St. Croix Educational Complex High School, and the St. Croix Career and Technical Education Center will remain closed on Monday, August 25, 2025 as law enforcement agencies investigate.

According to VIDE, the threats circulated across multiple platforms and included explicit language threatening to bomb schools and harm Black students. One message stated:
“Cody Conrad, and I’m going to bomb the fuck out of fucking Complex. I’m going to bomb Central, I’m going to bomb Woodson. I’m going to bomb all the fucking VI schools that are black, that has black folks in it. I don’t like you blacks. And I’m going to bomb the fucking school you.”
VIDE said these threats, combined with a significant number of school monitors calling in sick, left the Department unable to operate the campuses safely. The absence of monitors “gravely impacts the Department’s ability to adequately monitor and manage school operations,” officials noted.
Law enforcement officers are actively investigating, and VIDE emphasized that campuses will remain closed until they are fully secured. “Threats of any kind will never be taken lightly,” the Department said, stressing that making such threats is a serious crime with legal consequences.
The Department acknowledged the disruption caused by the closure and asked for cooperation from parents, guardians, and the broader community. “The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” VIDE stated, vowing to continue working closely with law enforcement until the matter is resolved.

Further updates will be communicated through official VIDE channels as more information becomes available.
