The V.I Taxicab Commission will hold its Annual Veteran Medallion Auction in mid-December, opening bidding exclusively to Virgin Islands veterans of the U.S. Armed Services. The announcement was made by Acting Executive Director Melissa I. Smith, who confirmed the auction will take place on December 15, 16, and 17, 2025, in accordance with Title 20, Section 407(c) of the Virgin Islands Code.
The Commission stated that the annual auction is “OPENED TO VIRGIN ISLANDS VETERANS OF THE US ARMED SERVICES ONLY.” Veterans interested in participating must obtain bid applications directly from the Commission’s office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
All completed bid forms must be placed in the designated bid box no later than 10:00 a.m. on the day of the auction, the Commission emphasized. To participate, applicants must undergo verification through the Office of Veterans Affairs to confirm eligibility as a U.S. Virgin Islands veteran on the island where the bid is being submitted.
The Taxicab Commission also noted that “BID APPLICANTS MUST BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF AUCTION,” adding that bid envelopes will be publicly opened on the dates and times provided.
The notice lists Melissa I. Smith as the contact person for additional information. The Commission may be reached at 340-693-4211 or by email at [email protected].
