A St. Thomas man who went missing over seven years ago should be declared dead, says his sister, in a petition recently filed with the Superior Court.
Gaston Brown, born July 11 1942 in Antigua & Barbuda, was a taxi driver who lived in Water Bay Villas on St. Thomas.
On April 30 2018, a 75-year old Brown was brought some food by his caretaker. After that, he wandered away from the house. Some time later, a woman called police to report that a man was in her yard. Police reportedly picked him up and dropped him off at Ft. Mylner as per his request, and Mr. Brown was never seen again.
In the filing, Mr. Brown’s sister said that neighbors and his caretaker searched for him after he failed to return home, and news of his disappearance was circulated on social media and local news outlets. Family members inquired with “hospitals, morgues, social services, and other institutions,” and made contact with “friends, relatives, and known associates” – all to no avail.
Since Mr. Brown has now been missing for seven years “without contact and despite diligent search,” his sister says it is now time to officially declare her brother deceased.
