Young aspiring musicians across the territory are being invited to join the Partners for Strings Virgin Islands Youth Orchestra through an exciting summer initiative. Online registration is now open for the 2025 Youth Orchestra Afternoons in the Summer, a four-week intensive program scheduled to run from June 3 to June 27, Tuesdays through Fridays, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at G-Clef Music Academy in Mandela Circle.

Hosted by Partners for Strings, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the summer program is designed for children ages 7 to 17 and welcomes musicians of all levels—from beginners to advanced players. The initiative continues a strong tradition of collaboration between Partners for Strings, G-Clef Music Academy, and the nationally recognized Miami Music Project, bringing together a robust music education experience grounded in community impact and artistic growth.
Although the program is free of charge, participants must pay a non-refundable $75 registration fee to secure their spot. Space is limited, and early registration is strongly encouraged.
Participants will receive training in a variety of instruments, including:
- Strings: Violin, Cello
- Woodwinds: Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute
- Brass: Trumpet, Trombone
- Percussion: Drums, Steel Pan, and other rhythm instruments
In addition to hands-on instruction, the curriculum includes music theory, sectional workshops, live performances, and interactive sessions that blend education with fun. The program builds upon the ongoing success of the weekly after-school orchestra sessions held at G-Clef during the school year.
“This is your chance to join us and be part of a year-round excellent and progressive youth orchestra,” reads an official invitation from the organization. “If you’re ready to use your musical talents to make a difference in this community, then we want you! Don’t delay registering. Space is limited.”
In 2021, Partners for Strings formed an Alliance Partnership with Miami Music Project, one of the largest socially transformative music organizations in the U.S. Most recently, the Virgin Islands Youth Orchestra was invited to perform at Miami Music Project’s unCLASSICAL concert, marking a milestone in cross-regional youth arts collaboration.
