The Manchester Road rehabilitation project has been completed ahead of the planned October deadline, and the roadway is now serving motorists and pedestrians, government announced Friday.
The roadworks, which started after the August Emancipation Festival, included the construction of about 420 linear feet of concrete road pavement, according to government.
“The completed works are now alleviating the constant view of running water on the main road while also protecting the road from degradation,” government stated in a press release.
Communications and Works Minister Kye Rymer thanked the contractor, who he did not identify, for completing the works on time and within budget.
“The ministry is cognisant of the concerns of motorists and residents that traverse the areas who were inconvenienced, and in response to this executed much-needed rehabilitation works in the Manchester area,” he said. “The ministry remains committed to delivering durable and long-term solutions throughout the territory and will continue to modernise utilities and infrastructure.
