Courtney Fahie, a 68-year-old with no fixed abode, was found dead in a derelict vehicle in Long Swamp last week, but police said they found no signs of violence or suspicious markings on his body.
Officers responded to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. on Jan. 8 upon receiving a report of an unresponsive man, they announced five days later in a Monday press release.
“Upon arrival at the location, officers discovered a male individual inside a green, derelict, dressed in a blue plaid shirt and short blue jeans pants and showed no signs of life,” the release stated. “He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.”
The man was later identified as Mr. Fahie.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the discovery remain ongoing,” the release stated. “Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the [police] at 368-9339 or the non-emergency access number 311.”
Police did not explain why it took them five days to announce the incident.
