Governor Cancels Catherineberg Fireworks Watch Party Due to Weather, But Show Will Go On

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has announced the cancellation of the fireworks watch party scheduled to take place this evening at Estate Catherineberg due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Although the public gathering hosted by the Governor has been called off, the fireworks display itself is still expected to proceed as originally planned.

In a statement issued Saturday, Governor Bryan expressed regret over the cancellation, stating that the decision was made with public safety in mind. “We were looking forward to celebrating together, but with the weather we’re experiencing, we felt it was best to cancel out of an abundance of caution,” he said. “I appreciate everyone’s understanding and encourage all to stay safe and mindful on the roads.”

The governor urged residents and visitors alike to exercise caution if attending other events or traveling throughout the evening, particularly in light of the current weather conditions impacting the island.

No further adjustments have been announced regarding the overall carnival schedule. Updates will be shared as necessary if the weather affects additional events.
