Derrick Chavarria wins 3rd annual Easter Monday race

BURRELL BOOM VILLAGE, Belize District, Mon. Apr. 21, 2025

Derrick “Baby Chav” Chavarria of the G-Flow team won the 3rd annual Easter Monday cycling race organized by the Inner-City Cycling Connection and the Chavarria Cycling Development Club. The race travelled from Belize City via the Philip Goldson Highway and the Boom bypass to the Hattieville roundabout and back to the finish line at the Castleton racetrack in Burrell Boom on Monday morning, April 21.

Below are the top finishers in the different race categories, their teams, times, and cash prizes received.

Elite Males: 1st Place – Derrick Chavarria (Team G-Flow, 1:10:00, $350 prize); 2nd – John Delong (Team Skyline, 1:10:00, $250 prize); 3rd – Shawn Codd (Team PMA Racing, 1:16:00, $150 prize).

Keith Enright – 1st Junior

Juniors:  1st Place – Keith Enright (Team Valvoline, $250 prize); 2nd – Ahmad Cherrington (Team G-Flow, $100 prize); 3rd – Kaleb Ortega (Rolling Shattaz, $75 prize).

Females:  1st Place – Irene Baki (Williams Racing Development, $250 prize); 2nd – Kelsey Castillo ($100 prize); 3rd – Fiona Humes-Castillo ($75 prize).

Irene Baki – 1st Female

Weekend Warriors:  1st Place – Steven Jorgenson (Unattached, $250 prize); 2nd – Phillip Leslie (Team SPD, $100 prize); 3rd – Jairo Campos (Wateva Boyz, $75 prize).

Gonz Cycling Club riders:  1st Place – Devonte Bennett ($250 prize); 2nd – Kenroy Gladden (Team SPD, $100 prize); 3rd – Gravel Young ($75 prize).
