Bryan Pays Tribute to Yvonne Galiber, Remembering Her as a Pillar of Strength, Service, and Compassion

Last updated on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 8:16 a.m.

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has issued a heartfelt tribute honoring the life and legacy of Yvonne A. Galiber, a widely respected community leader, inspirational cancer survivor, and founder of the YAG Foundation, following her recent passing.

In a statement released on Thursday, Governor Bryan expressed deep sorrow at the loss of a dear friend and a woman he described as “a bright light in the lives of so many, a woman whose warmth, generosity, and spirit touched everyone she met.”

Through her work with YAG, Galiber became a beacon of hope for countless individuals in the Virgin Islands battling breast and other forms of cancer. Her mission, as Governor Bryan noted, was deeply personal, her commitment “unwavering,” and her impact “immeasurable.” He emphasized that she was not only a fighter but a guiding force who reminded others of “the power of love, strength, and service.”

Governor Bryan also reflected on his personal relationship with Ms. Galiber, recalling moments of laughter and meaningful conversation that left lasting impressions. “She had a way of lifting your spirits with just a word, always knowing how to offer encouragement or a joke at just the right moment,” he said. “She was an incredible mother, a devoted wife, a cherished friend, and an exemplary citizen of the Virgin Islands.”

Galiber’s legacy, he added, would live on in the many lives she touched—not only through her nonprofit work but through her infectious joy and the values she embodied. “The love she gave so freely, the joy she spread so effortlessly, and the example she set for all of us in how to live with purpose, kindness, and grace” are the elements Governor Bryan hopes the community will continue to carry forward.

In his message, the governor extended his condolences to Galiber’s husband, Dante, and child, Dominique, expressing gratitude on behalf of the Virgin Islands people and his own family. “May she rest in peace, and may we honor her by carrying forward her spirit of compassion and community,” he concluded.
