ST. THOMAS — Authorities have launched an investigation after the body of a man was discovered early Sunday morning in the lagoon area of Red Hook, St. Thomas.

According to the V.I. Police Department, a call was placed to 911 Dispatch at approximately 8:05 a.m. on May 11 reporting that a body was seen floating in the lagoon.
Responding officers, accompanied by rescue personnel, arrived on the scene shortly after the report. Upon locating the individual, they found an unresponsive male floating in the water. Rescue teams checked for signs of life, but determined that the man had no vital signs and was deceased at the scene.
The deceased has been identified by next of kin as 65-year-old Lennox Todman. The cause of death is currently unknown and awaits determination by the medical examiner.
The VIPD Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Mr. Todman’s death. The department is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
