12 auxiliary police become constables

Twelve auxiliary officers transitioned to the rank of police constable on Friday as part of ongoing efforts to boost the force’s operational capacity, according to the Police Information Office.

The 12 are part of an 18-member cohort sworn in as auxiliary officers on October 2022. After that, they completed eight months of training before graduation in June 2023.

In August 2024, five members of the cohort advanced to the rank of police constable, and last week 12 more joined them “in accordance with available vacancies and the organisation’s commitment to their development,” according to the Police Information Office.

The newly appointed constables are Aldaine Roberts, Anderson Cherubin, Arshmer Mitchell, Craig Charles, Deborah Joseph, Donnique Billingy, Laurel Velox Augustin, Omar Grey, Oneka Gordon, Shavonnie Turnbull, Sheriss Telemaque and Stanley Ibechem.

Police also confirmed the “reinstatement” of officer Andrea Legair and Eric Ollivierre effective Friday.

Then-acting police commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool congratulated the officers on their advancement.

“This transition marks an important milestone, but it also comes with renewed expectations,” she said. “The public looks to you for leadership, integrity and professionalism in everything you do. Stay focused, stay disciplined, and remember that every action you take reinforces the trust the community places in this organisation.”
