VIPD Seeks to Extradite Suspect in Traffic Accident
An arrest warrant has been issued for Pedro Rivera, who is accused of being the driver whose vehicle crashed into a scooter operated by two juveniles Sept. 22 in downtown Frederiksted, the V.I. Police Department announced Monday. Both juveniles in the accident were seriously injured in the crash and had to be airlifted for treatment, police said. Officers attempted to execute the arrest warrant at the defendant’s Limetree Man Camp residence and discovered that he had left the territory. The officers, working in collaboration with office of the attorney general, obtained an extradition warrant for Rivera and are working to locate him and escort him back to the territory to face the charge. Police urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Pedro Rivera are asked to call 911 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Anyone who provides Crime Stoppers with information that helps resolve a crime may be eligible for an anonymous cash reward.
